Friday, October 28, 2011The Combination of an Iron Water Filter and Charcoal Water Filter Did the TrickThe Combination of an Iron Water Filter and Charcoal Water Filter Did the TrickStudies are now showing that polluted water might be one of the major contributors to disease and bad health. Not only is sleep, eating healthy and exercise important but drinking water too. Of course you probably already know that but it's not ok to just drink any tap water anymore, but to drink the right type of water. Our family is from a very rural area and therefore we don't have access to the municipality's water supply. Hence we have a water well but there is so much iron in the water that the water is actually off color, our bathtub is stained and the taste of the water is not good. The first time we installed a water filter, we ended up spending so much because of the constant maintenance costs. The amount of iron in our water far exceeded the capability of the iron water filter. We ended up spending a lot of money changing the system and installing a new one. To cut a long story short, we now use water filter softeners with extra filtering before the main pump to catch excess sedimentation. Because the softener is using so much salt, our water tasted even worse, however this time it was not a metallic taste but a salty taste. We were then recommended to install a charcoal water filter for our drinking water supply. Our neighbors actually recommended we give it a try since they had a similar set up to us and noticed a considerable difference in the taste of water after installing this new type of filtering system. A charcoal water filter is not at all expensive and far cheaper than a whole house filtration set up, purely because you are only filtering your drinking water. You can get a filter for your faucet, or a fridge water filter or pitcher that uses charcoal to filter our sodium in the water. It seemed more expensive to install this filter on the sink faucet because we use the same faucet for washing dishes and hands. So we thought it would be cheaper in the long run just to put our drinking water into the charcoal filter pitcher and drink it from there. Our water does taste a lot better but there are still maintenance costs involved. But, if we compare the cost of drinking water at home against buying bottled water, it works out cheaper to have whole house water systems filtering iron and a charcoal filter for the salty taste. Had we done proper research from the start we would have saved ourselves a lot of extra money.

Charles Strand, founder and president of Sun Water Systems says that shower head filters are more important. In the bathroom, when the door goes shut and the tap goes on, chemicals in the water are vaporized. They build up in the air more quickly than the steam. Water filters for shower heads trap the chemicals before they can enter the air. For people with asthma or other respiratory problems, shower head water filters are practically a necessity. Chlorine vapor is an irritant that triggers attacks and can lead to inflammation of the respiratory tract. Just think about people who work with the chemicals. They wear masks to protect themselves from the fumes. You can't logically wear a mask in the bathroom, but shower head filters can protect you. Inhaled chemicals are not the only problem with showering in unfiltered water. You may know that the pores of your skin dilate in warm water. They open up. Chemicals can pass through your skin and enter the blood stream in that way. Think about the patches that people wear on their skin to provide consistent medication through out the day, the nicotine patch for example. Without water filters for shower heads, more chemicals enter your body through your open pores than you would get form drinking a gallon of unfiltered water. Filtered drinking water protects you from consuming chemicals and other contaminants. Effective shower head water filters protect you from inhaling or absorbing those contaminants through your skin. That's why the water experts say that shower head filters are more important than drinking water filters, but the reason they initially became popular is because of the cosmetic benefits. Hairstylists have been suggesting them for about the last ten years. Chlorine dries out the hair and the scalp. It bleaches out the color and can interact with hair dyes causing your hair to have a greenish or orange tint. Water filters for shower heads containing carbon and other natural filters block the chlorine. Your hair feels softer and looks healthier. Your color will remain true for longer periods of time. The nicer salons use shower head water filters in their wash areas. It just makes sense. At one time, chlorine (basically bleach) was a common ingredient in hair dye. The experts learned that chlorine is harsh. It damages the hair and irritates the scalp. The newest hair dyes contain less irritating ingredients, but top hair designers realized that chlorine in the water could also be a problem. The chlorine content in tap water is sometimes higher than what you would find in a swimming pool. As the news spread, shower head filters became the rage. You may be surprised to learn that water filters for shower heads are not that expensive and they are well worth the investment. The dual or multi-stage units block more chemicals than the single stage. They may be a little more difficult to find, but they are worth it. Just remember that once you start using shower head water filters, you will never want to bathe in unfiltered water again. The water just feels better.

Sunday, October 23, 2011Reverse Osmosis Vs Pure Water Filter - Which is Better?Reverse Osmosis Vs Pure Water Filter - Which is Better? It has been established that a water purification system is imperative in keeping our drinking water safe for consumption. But which one is the best system? Is it reverse osmosis or water filters? It is best to know how they individually work. Reverse Osmosis
It is called by such a name because the process is the opposite of the usual osmosis system. In the natural osmosis system, a natural movement of solvent is coupled with low solute concentration wherein in this one, solvents are forced in the membrane to effectively separate the particles. Pure Water Filter
So which is better? In many ways, water filters are better. This is because they are easier to install in your household and they are more accessible. You also have various options to choose from so you are not only getting rid of visible particles in H20, you are also getting rid of other contaminants such as pesticides, chemicals, chloramines and cycts. Also, if you use one with a carbon filter, it can get rid of chlorine better. This is known to be effective in reducing chlorine smell and taste. But that also depends on the brand of filtration system you are using. One brand is not one and the same with the others. You also have to carefully ponder on your choices so you can find the most reliable one. This is not to undermine the benefits of using reverse osmosis. Although they are not commonly used, they also help a lot in making your water safer to drink. So start searching now for the right type of purification system for your house. For sure you can find one that will really work for you. Thursday, October 20, 2011"Hike Now, Play Later" by Nutnfancy ('Summer Snow' Actual Pt 1)"Hike Now, Play Later" by Nutnfancy ('Summer Snow' Actual Pt 1) Video Clips.Leave the push-button world behind and come on along for a Nutnfancy backpacking trip. It seems like it's always a sacrifice to peel away from the world and make it out to my wilderness places. Messages pile up, phones go unanswered, emails fill the inbox, and careers are put aside for awhile. But it's always worth it and it creates one of those special memorable experiences. I do my best in this series to share it with you. As I mention in many of my vids, a wilderness backpacking adventure is one of my top recommended ways to make memories with your friends and family, instill wilderness confidence, learn about your gear (and yourself), and to "depussify" your children. That's because it's hard work and requires planning and lots of effort. Here we hike in about 7 miles on what soon becomes a snow covered, hidden trail. As shown, wading and post holing through 4 foot snow banks will wear you out, especially at high elevations. The upside to to this difficulty was the complete isolation we quickly achieved on this trip; we saw no one else in the three days we were up there and we owned the basin (though in warmer days this is a very high use area). With a steady but deliberate pace we reach a gorgeous high mountain lake, still partially frozen from the long winter. It is serene and beautiful. On the trail in this Part 1 of "Summer Snow Actual" I discuss trekking poles, backpacks, boots, gaitors, teaching your kids to hike, dog training, and other backpacking subjects ... So investing in a well is a good idea, but of course there are a few disadvantages. Wells that are not protected from contamination can sometimes be more dangerous than just drinking tap water. Therefore to ensure that water remains completely safe from harmful impurities it would be crucial for you to have well water filters. Your well filtration system must incorporate different filters in order for you to have access to close to 100 percent pure water. Not doing so can result in some impurities remaining behind after maybe a two-fold purification process. So instead of being bothered by matters of convenience just do the right thing and install a multi-stage process. Your very first filter must undoubtedly be the pre-filter. This filter cleans out large sediments such as rust and hydrogen sulfide. Particle sizes as big as 5 to 10 microns are removed with ease, thereby giving the water a better smell and taste. Hydrogen sulfide is actually the one component that can give water an awful smell, generally that of rotten eggs. But this is not the only filter you can install. Kinetic degradation fluxion is the method that takes over from the pre-filter as it removes those particles that are left behind after your pre-filter. Using a mixture of copper and zinc this process brings about an electrochemical reaction that immobilizes electrons from harmful contaminants. When such electrons are removed the water then becomes safer for consumption than it would have been if you only used a pre-filter. The granular activated carbon filter should be the third filter well water passes through. Bituminous coal is a major part of this filtration method because of its shaming ability to extract impurities. So as the water passes through it microscopic impurities achieve extractive contact with the bituminous coal, thereby eliminating dangerous pesticides and heavy base metals. With that said you must realize that the best filtration methods always use good quality materials for the filters. Without these the effectiveness of the filtration process can be affected quite negatively. You must also ask your professional to use a smooth flow of water as this helps to clean out impurities effectively as well. Water from wells can be polluted very easily. Therefore if you do not filter it harmful components can bring about disease in your family or home. Storm Water Filter - The Easy Way to Protect the Environment From Pollutants in Storm Water RunoffStorm Water Filter - The Easy Way to Protect the Environment From Pollutants in Storm Water RunoffStorm water runoff poses a great threat to the groundwater supply and the environment. That's because it is easily contaminated by chemicals that are swept away along with it. Read on for how to use a storm water filter to solve that problem. And yes, the storm water filter really is an easy solution. The threat posed by the storm runoff lies in the fact that it sweeps up all sorts of contaminants that have dripped onto the ground over time, and flushes them into the ground water. How to prevent that? Well, the water goes into storm drains, and so they way to stop any contaminants from polluting the water, you'll simply plug in a storm drain filter insert into the drain. This will keep sediment out of the ground water, along with any other pollutants that might otherwise enter the water system. The pollution caused by storm runoff has become an ever more pressing concern at the local as well as the national level, and with good reason. Fortunately, the use of storm water filters will help prevent pollution problems by removing any waste materials from the rain water before it enters the water system. Among the various options is a storm drain filter insert called the Drain Guard. It's a simple device that has been specifically designed to fit most typical catch basins, where it is held securely in place by the metal grate. This way, it can remove all sorts of pollutants, from oil, grease, debris, litter, as well as coarse sediments from the water that flows through it. Among the major sources of storm water pollution are parking lots. That's because cars - and any trucks that might be there - often leak oil, coolant, grease, and other chemicals onto the ground, which could then be swept away into catch basins when it rains. Unfortunately, those catch basins are designed to drain into rivers, lakes, streams, and the ground water, where the pollutants can cause great problems. So if you're in charge of a parking lot, or any areas where cars and trucks are stored or serviced, you should check into storm water filters to protect the groundwater. The same is true for industrial plants and even for construction sites. enercell surge protector cuisinart soft serve ice cream maker price ceramic tile soap holder

Friday, October 14, 2011Is Your Water Making You SickIs Your Water Making You SickDid you know that people in the United States get sick each and every year from water they drink from their faucet. Yes, tap water makes roughly 7 million people sick every year, yet no one really thinks about that when a family member is ill. They just feel they contacted a virus from another person. However, you may need to look at your own kitchen faucet the next time you have an intestinal disorder or a stomach ailment. Contaminated drinking water that we get everyday through our homes has made us ill. This is because the water companies cannot trap viruses and bacteria and they leech out into the water systems and we pay for that liquid. The quickest way to remove just the drinking portion of your water is to get a faucet filter. You can find these almost anywhere now and they can be hooked up within 5 minutes time to your faucet. You simply unscrew the strainer on your faucet opening and attach this equipment. You will have the choice to use the filter or turn it off depending on the brand you purchase by either flipping the whole unit up or down or by turning a button on the side of the filter. Another source to simply create good drinking water is to acquire a pitcher. Many well known companies such as Brita, PUR, Aquasana and more make these pitchers. You simple pour water from your tap into the container top and it will filter down into clean water you can then drink. These sometimes take 30 minutes to filter through the water so do not plan on drinking the water very quickly. The cost savings of getting a water filter will pay for itself when you do not have to run to the local drugstore to purchase medicine because you or a family member is ill and needs something to ease their discomfort. Another benefit of filtering out viruses and bacteria especially in the winter months is the taste. You will definitely notice a better and cleaner taste in the water you drink. You may even refuse to have the old water ever again. chocolate fountain fondue vic firth rolling pin wicker basket hamper

Thursday, October 13, 2011A Whole House Particulate Water Filter Can Remove Sediment & Dirt From Your Water SystemA Whole House Particulate Water Filter Can Remove Sediment & Dirt From Your Water SystemThe next time you fill up a glass of water, lift it up to the light and take a look to see if it may be the time for you to purchase a whole house particulate water filter. If there are little specks floating around in your glass or the contents look cloudy, you need to consider an H20 treatment system. "Particulate" refers to the small particles that end up in your H20, usually in the form of sediment, such as bits of rock and dirt. While there are many chemicals and molecularly small elements that can be caught by a water filter particulate objects are generally larger. An H20 purifier system dealing with these larger elements focuses more on what you can actually see when you look in your glass, not what you cannot see. A whole house particulate water filter is an important part of your plumbing for several reasons. Sediment can contain up to five different types of contaminants by the time it reaches your faucet, and these elements can be hazardous to your health. Drinking something that contains sediment or other small particles is not safe. Sediment is also not good for your plumbing in general. It clogs up plumbing, can make toilets run, and can build up inside your H20 tank and cause problems. After being run through a water filter particulate objects are then stopped from causing damage to your house. While there are many smaller H20 treatment units such as carafe-style pitchers or sink models, one of the benefits of a whole house particulate water filter is that it treats everything that flows in from your water main. As stated previously, sediment can damage your plumbing. Removing this element at the entry point ensures that you will spend less time and money maintaining your piping system. In the best type of water filter particulate objects are stopped via a multi-step procedure. People who have used cheap, one-strainer H20 purifiers know that usually some carbon from the unit ends up in the "clean" H20 chamber, thus actually adding particles to the drinking liquid. Better quality systems have multiple strainers which catch all sediment and ensure that no stray particle ends up in the drinking supply. A whole house particulate water filter generally is the first step in a multi-unit H20 processing system. Sediment is molecularly larger than chlorine and other chemicals found in publicly treated H20, and generally in a good water filter particulate objects are the first ones stopped. However, the H20 must pass through additional, finer graded strainers and any sediment that escapes the first strainer will be caught by the second one. If you want to keep your family from accidentally drinking contaminants and would like your plumbing to remain free of problems, a whole house particulate water filter can help you accomplish this. By removing all sediment and other bits of visible contaminants from your H20, you are cutting down on your plumbing bills and giving your family a safe substance for drinking and bathing in.
